Book Readings: On Deepavali day, November 14, 2023, a reading and signing session of the book at Fiza by Nexus Mall at Pandeshwar, was a time of glory, held at the Hangyo Dessert Bar in the Food Court by a well wisher and journalist Ms.Laxmi Shenoy, with the author and illustrator present of course. A good number of children and people were present and it was a particularly noteworthy event, with ice creams for all. A peep into the little book brought amazing wide eyed reactions, with a good promotion of the aims too. This highlighted the Mangalore Culture of times past to better knowledge.
Shivani L Karkera - Artist & Illustrator:
A superb Creative Designer. Born and brought up in our charming Mangaluru. In academics it was smooth sailing discovering her true passions—drawing, dancing, and singing. Art in particular, captured her warm heart, and in her own way developed a strong desire to make special art her career. Shivani through an artistic journey, clean cut guidance, took up Animation, completing a Diploma in Advanced 3D. Post-diploma, she swiftly transitioned into the role of a Web and Graphic Designer. Teaching became a significant part of her life, and she had the privilege of teaching in two international schools in Chennai; Cambridge International, International Baccalaureate, and Waldorf Education. Happily married to an incredible man whose exposure to multi cultures makes him a steadfast supporter of Shivani’s passions - they are set to travel far and wide and the launch has been unmistakable.
Her individual hand painted illustrations on the pages of this book is a study in deep reality and true expression - precise, tastefully colorful, correct in detail and heart touching in every sense on the mind young or old in a graceful manner. The Author - Kripanjali Tellis Nayak: A pioneering committed mature young lady now seriously embarking to work holistically for the aged. A young well qualified lady, of the millennial generation, who has been supporting unseen efforts to reinvent the comprehensive care of elders in a professional applied manner and initiate a wider regulatory mechanism for institutions. She is into a PhD research programme in Gerontology at Srinivas University , a first of its kind. She is Based in Mangalore and enjoys travelling and documenting her experience and learnings. Deeply passionate about Gerontology (Practice of Elderly Care), intends to make a difference in the outlook of society.
