Mangalore, Jan 24, 2013: When kids love cartoons, why not take advantage of it and enlighten kids on Indian mythological characters? A visit to the kindergarten classroom at the Nalanda English Higher Primary School in Carstreet, will leave anyone spell bound. For, the classroom has a wall painting on Indian cartoon characters Like Bal Ganesh, Hanuman, Krishna, Chota Bhim and so on. Children not only enjoy looking at the wall paintings on their favourite cartoon characters, but also learn the stories pertaining to the characters.
Dr Mohan Pai, Honorary Secretary of the School says the wall painting depicting eight Indian comic characters was the result of the hard works put in by a team of artists led by Om Prakash. It took three weeks to paint three walls of the two classrooms, he adds.
Saraswathi Bhat, Headmistress says the unique classrooms were inaugurated on children’s day last year by Sudha Shenoy, a trainer for kindgergarten teachers.
Indeed a novel experiment worth emulating.
