Mangalore, Dec 24, 2009: Not your cup of tea or coffee? No chance, the KT and Rimjhim would surely be everyone’s cup of tea or coffee. Want to taste this coffee and Chai with a unique name and a unique taste ? Then you have to drop in at the tiny little hotel ‘Laxminivasa’ at Kalladka on the NH 48. Laxminivasa is known for its unique tea or coffee, which may not be available even in star hotels. People who know about the irresistible Rimjhim make it a point to make a brief stop over at the hotel to have the refreshing Rimjhim or KT.
Srinivas Holla
Here the Tea is simply called as ‘KT’ means Kalladka Tea while the coffee is well known as ‘Rimjhim’. The taste is amazing and it is one of a kind where one can see a clear difference between the milk layer and the tea or coffee decoction and is reasonably priced at Rs 6. The tumbler contains of thick milk at the bottom, decoction at the middle and the milk froth at the top, each separating from other. This marvelous technique is complete when the server places the spoon in the tumbler to stir before serving. This kind of unusual trick is being continued since the past 60 years by the Holla family which runs the hotel. Presently, Srinivas Holla is in charge of continuing the KT and Rimjhim tradition of Laxminivasa.

I am a regular visitor to this hotel whenever I go to Mangalore via Sullia from my residence in Bangalore.I spend a few minutes there and just watch how the butler prepares KT, I mean kalladka tea.It is very tasty and I am sure even Bangalore’s Coffee day will not supply such a tasteful tea.Last time when I went there I had clicked few photos and I have taken the video too. Thanks to Srinivas Holla and special thanks to mangaloretoday website to upload this article. | |

The first picture itself tempts me to have a glass of KT. Really the write up on these kind of local specialities help them to become famous and also benefit the consumer. |
