Mangalore, Feb 26: Sixty years ago, in 1949, he entered this world the son of Late Sri Laxman Prabhu and Late Smt. Lilly Prabhu the doyens of textile business in Bantwal. Having had the primary education in Bantwal, he moved over to St. Aloysius College in Mangalore to obtain B.Com Degree. Ganesh Prabhu stepped into the world of business as a partner in M/s Hemanth Trading Company in Mangalore who were the main MICO Distributors. He still runs Ancestral Textile Business at Bantwal.
Marching ahead along the path of life, Ganesh Prabu acquired innumerable skills and expertise from the University of Life which taught him to examine every issue critically so as to arrive at meaningful conclusions. Certainly this has helped him to conquer the heights in all he attempted. Playing a commendable role in popularising the products of the German based multinational company several areas of Karnataka, his farsightedness, vision, commitment, perseverance, dynamism and holistic perspective have the ideals that have earned him name and fame. Associating with the Rotaract Club founded for the benefit of KMC students, his presence in the arena of social services made a mark. He enthusiastically served as Trustee of Sri Venkatramana Temple. Also as the Board member of the D.K.Textile Dealers Association.
In spite of being immersed in business, P G Prabhu found enough time to reap the benefits offered by the world of spirituality. Inspired by the activities of the Ramakrishna Mission, he has set up a Ramakrishna Sadhana Mandira in his residence itself with the objective of enabling the people of Bantwal to get a Glimpse of spirituality.
Following the footsteps of his late father, has been actively associated with the SVS Group of institutions as a Treasurer of Sri Venkataramana Swamy Vidyavardhaka Sangha and as the Correspondent of Sri Venkataramana Swamy College and School for more than two decades. It is during his tenure that S.V.S.Institutions have achieved enviable growth and progress. The S.V.S. Staff quarters, Ladies Hostel, Bantwal Raghurama Mukunda Prabhu Centenary Public School Building, S.V.S. English Medium Auditorium, SVS English School Buses, SVS College Computer Science Building, Canteen and so on came into existence as a result of his determined efforts. Besides he is known for taking the right decisions at the right time and all the crises that the institution has passed through over the years have been brilliantly diffused by a pragmatic approach. Touring a number of foreign countries including the United States to acquire a first-hand-experience of the running of educational institutions there. Having personally seen the modes of imparting knowledge in those countries, has successfully initiated a lot of reforms in involved institutions.
The administrative skills acquired from Bosch and the lessons of spirituality imbibed from Ramakrishna Ashram have always guided Mr. Prabhu to take strong decisions for the positive growth of the institutions he has been associated with for a long time.
On the occasion of his 60th birthday celebrations recently, prayers that the Almighty to shower His choicest blessings on him and his family consisting of his wife Mrs. Sharada Prabhu, who has been an inspiration behind all endeavours, his son Gautham Prabhu, daughter-in-law Mrs. Gowri Prabhu, daughter Mrs. Greeshma Prabhu, son-in-law Sri Sudhir Hegde and a grand son.
