Islamabad, July 17 : An online petition on the internet has demanded that Pakistan’s TV regulatory authority PEMRA must stop actor Veena Malik from preaching religion on Hero TV during the holy month of Ramazan, Pakistani media reported.
As news spread like wildfire on social media about Veena Malik’s program Astaghfaar, an online petition was created for submission to PEMRA for stopping the controversial actress hosting the religious show.
The petition said that “Veena Malik is a notorious porn star known for her semi nude pictures in magazines and Indian movies. Ramadhan is a serious religious matter. It is extremely pathetic that an FHM controversial model will preach religion in the holy month of Ramadhan on a Pakistani channel.
"It will hurt the feelings of Muslims all over Pakistan and abroad, it said. Pemra must immediately stop Hero TV from airing such stuff in the holy month of Ramadhan."
So far merely more than 74,000 subscribers of the Facebook like this petition.
Astaghfar means seeking forgiveness (protection) from Allah for sins committed knowingly or unknowingly. This prayer is offered by devout Muslims during the holy month of Ramazan.
Of late, in Pakistan, actors and celebrities have been taking part in special TV shows on Astaghfar, but the entry of controversial actor Veena Malik has raised the hackles of devout Muslims in Pakistan.

I strongly condemn the effort of Hero TV to engage Veena Malik in Astaghfar programme which is being aired in so holy month of Ramdhan. Are the owners and management of Hero TV not muslims? Do Hero TV has right to play with emotions of muslims in so holy month of ramdhan for just getting a cheap attention from viewers? I appeal to PEMRA, President, Prime minister, communication minister, and courts of Pakistan either to compel Hero TV to stop such bizarre act and excuse from the nation or to ban Hero TV. |
