Mumbai, July 3: The Additional Municipal Commissioner in Mumbai has confirmed that a surrogate baby boy was born to actor Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan on May 27 in a suburban hospital. It is still unclear whether a sex determination test, which is illegal, was carried out.
The National Inspection and Monitoring Committee had filed a legal complaint against the Khan couple for engaging in sex selection of their baby. The complaint also names the actor’s alleged doctor and the hospital in question, though both had denied any involvement.
The actor, who is a proud father of two teenaged children - Aryaan and Suhana - has not yet confirmed the surrogacy reports. If he confirms, then Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan won’t be the only Bollywood couple to have opted for surrogacy. Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao had their first child Azaad back in 2011 through a surrogate.
