Nov 25, 2015: Naked is the new orange, black, pink, blue, white—you get the point. It’s in! It could be said that Kim Kardashian paved the way for figure-hugging, next-to-nothing apparel (especially on the red carpet), but the truth is that Jennifer Lopez and her glorious curves set fashion down this path many moons ago. At the 2000 Grammy Awards, to be exact.

Lopez outdid even her own love of the naked dress, via a handful of her ten outfit changes at the American Music Awards, many of which were made of some variation of totally see-through material. Her parade comes at the end of the year in which the naked dress reached fever pitch—from Beyonce and Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala to Gwen Stefani onstage to barely there looks on Taraji P. Henson and one of this year’s biggest comebacks, Jada Pinkett Smith.
