Jan 15, 2019 - After the #MeToo movement, Bollywood celebrities have become more vocal about sexual misconduct and it’s existence in the film industry. Rajkumar Hirani is the latest celebrity from Bollywood to have been accused of sexual harassment. A woman has alleged that he misbehaved with her while they were shooting for ’Sanju’ last year in 2018. She was apparently his Assistant Producer on the sets and had also e-mailed about her side of the story to Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the producer of the movie. The matter didn’t come out until Mumbai Mirror and Pinkvilla carried blind items referring to a filmmaker being accused of sexual harassment, for which his name from an upcoming movie has been dropped, hinting at ;Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’.
Now, Boney Kapoor, who is a well- established name in the film industry, has commented on the ongoing fiasco. In an interview with Times of India, he said, "I don’t believe this allegation. He can never do something like this." Several other actors like Emran Hashmi and Dia Mirza have also shared their stance on the issue. "I don’t want to comment on this. It’s just an allegation. Nothing has been proved as of yet. The director has already dismissed the allegations. Till the time something is not proven, I don’t think it right to comment on this," Hashmi said.
"I am deeply distressed by this news. As someone who has known and respects Raju Sir for 15 years, I can only hope that a due official enquiry is conducted. He is one of the most decent human beings I have ever worked with and I think it would be grossly unjust on my part to speak on this as I do not know the details," said Dia Mirza in an interview to a web- portal. Let’s see what the rest of Bollywood has to say about it.
