March 19, 2020: She is the Dream Girl of Bollywood. He is the He-Man of B-town. It was on the sets of Tum Haseen Main Jawaan, when they had met each other but initially, she was reluctant to pursue her relationship with him because he was already a married man with four kids. But that didn’t stop Dharmendra from falling in love with Hema. After fighting the odds and allegedly converting into Islam, Dharmendra tied the knot with Hema in a nikaah ceremony in 1979.
Punjab da puttar, Dharmendra and the Queen of South, Hema Malini have been married for over four decades and are blessed with two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, who are happily settled in their respective lives. Dharmendra and Hema share a lovely, unique relationship in which, love binds them together and it has a fun side too. A few months back, Dharmendra had trolled his wife, Hema when she had taken a part in the cleanliness drive at the Parliament, to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s project, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Hema Malini and Esha Deol Takhtani appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show to promote her book, Amma Mia, which is all set to launch on March 23, 2020. As Esha and Hema discussed about the book on the show, they also revealed an interesting detail about their love life. When Kapil asked Esha to confirm a rumour which states that one of her friends used to talk in her voice to her hubby, Bharat Takhtani over call, Esha admitted and said, “Meri ek friend hai jo bilkul mere jaise sound karti hai toh main kabhi kabhi bore ho jaati thi toh vo continue karti thi baatein karna.”
Revealing how she and her mother, Hema Malini share the same trait of not being able to talk for long on-call, Esha Deol Takhtani continued, “I can’t talk for more than two minutes. Mumma aur main is mein bilkul same hai. I am like jaldi jaldi baat kar ke hang up karo. In fact, mom ka ek story hai jahan pe mummy baat kar rahi thi papa se aur baat kar rahe the, kar rahe the… aur achanak papa ko phone pe mummy ke kharratte sunayi diye.” It left everyone laughing. Defending herself, Hema added, “Nahi nahi. Dekhiye kya hua tha I was working for a very long time, raat bhar shooting thi. So, I think I was too tired. So, pyaar bhari baatein bhi ek certain limit tak achha lagta hai.”
Coming back to Dharmendra trolling his wife, Hema Malini, when the video of the BJP MP’sanliness drive had gone viral on the internet, a Twitterati had asked if Hema has ever even picked up a broom in her entire life. To which, Dharmendra had replied, "Haan films main, mujhe bhi anaadi lag rahi thi. Maine magar bachpan mein, apni maa ka hamesha haath bataya hai. Mai jhaadoo mein maahir tha. I love cleanliness." After being trolled for his response on the question, Dharmendra had chosen to apologise in the cutest way possible and the throwback picture that he had shared along with it, made his apology even funnier. Sitting by a car and looking at the sky with joined hands, Dharmendra had tweeted, “Kuchh bhi keh baithta hoon. kuchh bhi KI bhawna ko. Kuchh bhi samajh baithte hain yaar log. TWEET BADSHAH. kuchh bhi kiya baat jhaadu ki bhi… tauba tauba... kabhi na karon ga. Hum ka maafi de do maalik.”
