Adorable speaking dog copies a baby - and says ’MAMA’ to get food

Aug 07, 2015: This is the incredible moment a dog SPEAKS as it begs for food from his owner.

Patches the dog mimicked a nine month-old baby, Samuel, and says ‘mama’ to get a tasty treat from mum Andrea Diaz-Giovanini, from Utah in the US.

“That week he (Samuel) had been saying ‘dada’ a lot and so we were trying really hard to coax him to say mama,” she told KSL.com

Ms Diaz-Giovanini’s mother was eating lunch and trying to get the toddler to say the word when Patches, a 10-year-old mini Australian shepherd, started begging for food.

Suddenly, the dog quite clearly says ‘mama’.

Hilariously, Samuel then puts his hand over Patches’ mouth to shut him up.

It later emerged that the dog has been able to say the word since he was just two - and probably thought grandma was talking to him.

The video was posted on America’s Funniest Video’s YouTube channel in February after the family sent it in, and now has more than 2.5 million views.

And if you were worried, Patches did get a treat for being a good boy - and a good talker.
