November 03, 2023: A wholesome video that reportedly shows two fully drenched young monkeys comforting each other and taking turns to sip milk from a bottle is raking in likes across social media. The undated video reportedly shows two young monkeys being fed milk from a bottle, after they were rescued from the flood. Popular X account TheFigen_ shared this clip online. So far it has over 1.4 lakh likes. Commenting on the video, an X user wrote, “Note how the older one is patient even though it must be hungry with how fast it takes the bottle. Usually, you see animals acting beastly with food but this looked like 2 siblings who survived tragedy, thankful they still had each other back.”
Making a similar observation another stated, “The greatest lesson of it all is seeing how patient and supportive they are in the face of distress. Human beings are throwing bombs on each other.”

An X user highlighted the devastating effect of floods on animals and mentioned, “Floods can be devastating for animals, and many lose their homes and families as a result. These baby monkeys are lucky to have been rescued, and I’m sure they will be well taken care of until they can be released back into the wild.”
While many people felt touched by the video, a few doubted its authenticity. A longer version of this video was posted on a Reddit forum named u/TelephoneParty5934. Here the watermark on the video mentioned that it was first posted by a Facebook page called ELA Monkey. This page is known for posting almost similar videos involving young primates such as the ones seen in the video.
Pointing out the possibility of the video being staged for social media engagement, a Reddit user wrote, “I hate to spoil the fun but to me this looks very staged. Looking into the account name on the video that posted it they’re a page on Facebook with nothing but multiple videos a day of these baby monkeys. Never any adult monkeys, just very young babies like these. To me personally the whole thing reeks of these fake animal rescue channels that put cute baby animals in situations on purpose. There are multiple videos of baby monkeys in mud, in the middle of water, alone and shivering, in emotional distress etc.”
