February 19, 2022: On the occasion of their 70th marriage anniversary, a centenarian from Murshidabad, West Bengal, decided to renew his vows to his wife. Biswanath Sarkar once again tied the knot with his 90-year-old life partner Surodhoni Sarkar. Biswanath celebrated his 100th birthday with this unique and special occasion.Sons, daughters, daughters-in-law, sons-in-laws, grandsons and granddaughters of the couple were present for the celebration and enjoyed themselves very much. The marriage anniversary celebrations took place at Bamunia village under Bhagoban Gola police station.

More than 700 people were invited for the celebration and their meals were arranged accordingly. Biswanath Sarkar married Surodhini Sarkar of Fejalpur in the year 1953.

After 70 years of marriage, the couple had 6 sons, 3 daughters, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law and a number of grandsons and daughters. Though most of their children stay in different parts of the country for their profession, all of them were present to celebrate the occasion.

One of the sons mentioned that they never found their parents engaged in quarreling. They spoke to each other with a smile.

“I thought for a long period of time that my parents’ marriage was an example for the new generation. So, after discussion among our family members, we took a decision that we shall arrange for our parents’ remarriage on their 70th marriage anniversary,” the son added.The marriage was arranged with proper rituals. Payel Sarkar, granddaughter of Biswanath Sarkar told IndiaToday.in, “I enjoyed myself very much in my grandpa and grandma’s marriage. I will always remember this special day forever.”
