Kerala man orders iPhone 12, receives bar of soap and Rs 5 coin instead

October 22, 2021: It is not unusual to receive a wrong product when you order through e-commerce websites. However, when this Kerala man ordered the luxe iPhone 12, he got a bar of dish washing soap and a Rs 5 coin instead. Now, that is unusual. A resident of Aluva, Noorul Ameen, was waiting for his Apple smartphone but never thought that he would receive that wild surprise instead. His story has gone viral on social media and you will have to read further on to know what exactly happened.

 

The picture that is doing the rounds of the Internet has a green-coloured Vim dish wash soap and a Rs 5 coin. Noorul ordered the smartphone, which retails at Rs 70,900 through Amazon. On receiving the stark opposite of luxe, the NRI quickly filed a complaint and luckily received a refund of the hefty amount.

According to the complaint, Ameen had placed the order on October 12 through his Amazon Pay Card. He received the package on October 15 and made an ‘unboxing’ video, which is compulsory nowadays due to the rise in online fraud cases.

The Cyber Police Station registered a case and launched an inquiry in this regard. Through that it was revealed that the phone that Noorul was supposed to receive was being used by someone in Jharkhand since September. All this was possible to find after looking into the IMEI number that is present on the case.“We contacted the Amazon authorities and the Telangana-based seller. The phone has been in use in Jharkhand since September 25 this year, even though the order was placed only in October. When we contacted the seller, he said the phone was out of stock and that the amount paid by Noorul would be returned,” quoted an officer.
