Sep 26, 2015: Hidekichi Miyazaki has broken his own world record as the oldest competitive sprint, and is able to do the 100metres in a speedy 42.22 seconds.
Sprinter, Hidekichi Miyazaki has broken his own world record for "oldest competitive sprinter" in the world.
Mr Miyazaki is 105-years young and regularly completes in the 100metre sprint.
He was born on September 22 1910 and celebrated his birthday by running a 100metre sprint in just 42.22 seconds.
Speaking afterwards, Mr Miyazaki said: "Today my target was 35 seconds...I shed tears of disappointment because I was not in good condition. I am not satisfied with today’s time. But I am satisfied that I could cross finish line."
The sprinter, who is referred to as the "Golden Bolt" because he imitates Usain Bolt’s lightening pose.
Usain Bolt had recent success at the Athletic World Championships where he ran the 100metres in 9.58 seconds.
"He hasn’t raced me yet" says Mr Miyazaki who has longed for the opportunity to race again Usain Bolt.
A Guinness World Records adjudicator waited on the sidelines ready to present the runner with his third official certificate and a copy of Guinness World Records 2016.
