Vishwanath, a farmer from Sadwa village in Raebareli, and his family welcomed Rani into their home eight years ago, treating her as an integral member of their household. Stranded and vulnerable after losing her group when a troop of monkeys passed through the village, Rani was taken in by Vishwanath’s wife, who cared for the helpless animal. What began as an act of compassion blossomed into a deep and enduring friendship.

Adapting to a new environment

Rani adapted effortlessly to her new environment, becoming inseparable from the family. She quickly learned to mimic human behaviour — eating, drinking, and even participating in household chores.

She earned the affectionate nickname ‘working monkey’ for her remarkable contributions, which included rolling rotis (bread), washing utensils, and even watching videos on mobile phones during her leisure time. Rani’s intelligence and behaviour astonished everyone around her.

Internet fame

Vishwanath’s son, Akash, started documenting Rani’s activities and sharing them on his YouTube channel, Rani Vlog RBL (Rani Bandariya). The channel quickly gained millions of views, with audiences worldwide admiring Rani’s exceptional skills and the unique bond she shares with her human family.

The videos, which feature Rani performing household tasks and spending time with the family, have become an internet sensation.

New identity

Despite her strong connection with humans, Rani’s transition came at a cost. Her former monkey tribe no longer accepts her, as she is perceived as too different from them. This has made her entirely dependent on her human family, where she continues to thrive and find affection.
